Mrs ‘Makananelo Nkoe is a Chartered Accountant and chartered registered auditor, registered with the Lesotho Institute of Accountants, she has certifications in professional ethics and principles and practices of risk management. She is the partner and founder of Imperium Chartered Accountants and has executive experience in various areas including but not limited to external auditing, internal auditing, risk management, financial analysis, financial statements, taxation, developing and establishing internal audit and risk management departments.
Work Experience
Previously she worked as an Audit Manager at New Dawn Chartered Accountants, responsible for the overall service delivery of audit assignments including presentation of audit findings and recommendations to management and to those charged with governance. She served clients across Lesotho within different industries including Mining, manufacturing, petroleum, insurance, retail, construction, parastatals, non-profit organizations, and the public sector.
She has established and developed internal audit and risk management departments at Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation, which were later separated to maintain the independence and objectivity of the internal audit function.
Leadership
In addition, she has served on the admissions and registrations committee and Audit and risk committee of the Lesotho Institute of Accountants. She is currently serving on the Professional Standards and Quality Assurance (technical) committee. She is also serving on the executive committee (Board) of the Institute of Internal Auditors Lesotho as Director of Finance for the second term.
Lastly, she has been selected for the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders under Leadership in Public Management track.
Mentorship
She has participated and continuing to do so in ACCA voluntary mentorship program in which two of her mentees have done exceptionally well. They are working with a financial institution and hospitality industries in Lesotho and South Africa at both tactical and operational levels.
